Beef Showcased at State Fair

Missouri Beef Industry Council and cattlewomen treat fairgoers to tasty beef recipes and beef knowledge.

It's always show time at the Missouri State Fair Beef Showcase where the Missouri Beef Industry Council demonstrates the latest beef recipes using the newest cuts of beef.

"The state fair is an excellent way to reach so many consumers from across the state of Missouri," says Dawn Thurnau, MBIC director of marketing. "In the Beef Showcase we're teaching people how to cook beef. We do cooking demonstrations every hour on the hour."

The Showcase is funded by the $1 per head Beef Checkoff and managed by the Missouri Cattlewomen's Association. "These are women that own or work on farms and they understand that we are out there to educate consumers about our product," Thurnau says.

The Beef Showcase is located right next to the Beef House, a restaurant run by the Missouri Cattlemen's Association that is celebrating its 25th year at the Missouri State Fair.

Both the Beef House and the Beef Showcase will be open every day of the Missouri State Fair, which runs through Aug. 19 in Sedalia. More about Missouri beef is available at www.mobeef.org.
