Missouri Pork Association to hold youth swine judging contest at state fair.

Missouri FFA and 4-H members are invited to participate in the 2007 Missouri Pork Association Swine Judging Contest on Friday, Aug. 10 at the Missouri State Fair. The contest will take place in the Swine Pavilion on the Fairgrounds in Sedalia.

The contest is open to current 4-H and FFA members who have not yet graduated from high school. Registration is from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a $5 per person entry fee. The judging contest begins at 5 p.m.

A sponsor, such as an agricultural education instructor, Extension specialist, or 4-H leader, must enter each team, which can have three or four members. However, only the top three individual scores will be used to determine the team total.

The Missouri State Fair will provide a plaque to the winning team and the highest individual in each division. The top three teams and the top individuals in each division will receive a cash award.
