The Missouri Soybean Association recently announced that it has named a new soybean research field, located outside of Columbia, the Bay Farm. The farmland was acquired from Don and Joan Bay who sold the parcel of land to the MSA for less than market value.
The Bay Farm will become of immediate use to researchers at the University of Missouri and the National Center for Soybean Biotechnology, who had ran out of room to do soybeans crosses in nearby fields.
"The Bay family has made it possible for our talented researchers at the National Center for Soybean Biotechnology and the University of Missouri to expand their studies of soybean varieties," says Dale Ludwig, MSA executive director. "We thank the Bays for their generosity and look forward to the opportunity to gain more insight into new varieties and traits."
